Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-09-02

These terms are between you and COMPANY NAME, POSTAL ADDRESS ("we"), the operator of The Drone App. By using the app you agree to them. They are short on purpose, and the parts that matter most to a pilot come first.

1. What the app is

The Drone App shows private drone pilots the geographical zones that national aviation authorities publish, alongside the weather and the pilot's own saved plans. It is an awareness tool. It is not an air-traffic service, not a clearance system, and not a source of authorisation.

2. What it is not

  • Not a clearance. Nothing in the app authorises a flight. No colour on the map grants permission.
  • Not a substitute for the official source. Every zone links to the authority that published it, and that authority's own map governs.
  • Not a substitute for your judgement on the day, at the site.

3. Your responsibilities

You are the pilot in command, and you alone are responsible for:

  • the decision to fly and everything that follows from it;
  • checking the competent authority's own publication before flying;
  • your registration, insurance, competence certificate and aircraft class;
  • the rules of the air where you fly, including visual line of sight, distance from people and height limits;
  • judging on site whether the flight is safe, whatever the app shows about whether it is permitted.

4. What we undertake to do

  • Reproduce what the competent authority publishes, without adding a restriction of our own and without removing one.
  • Show the more restrictive reading where the source data is ambiguous.
  • Disclose the age of the data and the completeness of each country's set.
  • Say what we do not check — here, and in the app under "How we decide".

5. Known limits of the data

Stated up front, because you are entitled to know them before the field and not after:

  • Authorities republish on their own schedules. A zone created after our last refresh may not be shown.
  • We do not provide a NOTAM briefing. In a few countries the app shows temporary restrictions from a feed the authority publishes, or in France from a community map, and names that source on the map. That is not a NOTAM briefing, which you still get from the official portal.
  • Rules held outside the airspace register — national parks, municipal and prefectural orders, local bylaws — are invisible to the app and remain binding on you.
  • Some countries ship with a partial dataset. The app says so where that is the case.

6. Liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty that the information it presents is complete, current or accurate.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, COMPANY NAME is not liable for any fine, penalty, administrative sanction, loss, damage or injury arising out of or in connection with a flight you undertake, regardless of what the app displayed beforehand.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and liability for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep every right the law of the country you live in gives you.

7. Your account

  • Sign-in is by email link; there is no password. Keep the mailbox you sign in with secure, because whoever can read it can open your account.
  • The app is free while it is in beta. There is nothing to buy in it. If that changes, these terms change first and you will be told in the app.
  • You may delete your account at any time from the Profile tab. Deletion erases the account and the data associated with it, and it cannot be undone.
  • We may close an account that breaches these terms. If we do, we will say why.

8. Acceptable use

  • Do not use the app to plan a flight you know to be prohibited.
  • Do not resell the app, redistribute the zone data it downloads, or strip the attribution it carries. The data belongs to the authorities and communities who publish it, under their own licences, and some of those licences forbid redistribution.
  • Do not try to break into the service or to disrupt it for other pilots.

9. Changes

We may amend these terms. A material change is surfaced in the app before it takes effect, not published silently, and the date at the top of this page changes with every edit.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of JURISDICTION, whose courts have jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
